Just to let you know that we have recently completed our analysis of the 2007 Senate Count.
Attached is a copy of my report to the Australian Parliament JSCEM.
You can also down load details of my submission at http://melbcity.googlepages.com/2007senateelection
SUMMARY
The current system used to count the Senate vote was designed to facilitate a manual count.we have identified two issues of concern in the way the AEC counts the Senate elections
1.The method used to calculate the Surplus Transfer Value
2.The method used in distributing preferences allocated to candidates excluded in the count
Both of the above issues effects the outcome of the senate election.
Most notably is that the Green’s were denied representation in Queensland as a result of the flaws in the system count.
The Joint Standing Committee has requested a review and report by the AEC on this issue.
We have also had confirmed our analysis of the Queensland Senate results independently by two different sources. All have agreed with my assessment that the system needs a major over haul to take advantage of the computerised counting and to avoid the errors in the current system .
I urge you to review the finding of our review
